Euro V Engines
With the introduction of the new Brazilian legislation on emissions, all diesel vehicles (except for military vehicles) come with engines that meet the standards of Proconve P7, which is equivalent to Euro V in Europe. The goal is to reduce the emission of pollutants expelled into the atmosphere resulting from fuel combustion, in which case the diesel has a high concentration of nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM).
Fuel
Vehicles produced from January 1, 2012 must be filled with low sulfur diesel. To ensure the reduction of emissions, the new engines will use diesel S50 or S10. Only vehicles without application of the new standard may still use diesel S1800 and S500 fuel.
Arla 32 in non-toxic and is deposited in a specific reservoir and is pulverized in the exhaust gases after combustion. This chemical combination results in nitrogen (N2) and water vapor that is harmless to the environment.
Arla 32 is used in the SCR system to ensure the emission reduction of polluting gases and the correct operation of the vehicles. The power of the engine and the vehicle’s exhaust system can be majorly affected by the use of liquids different that Arla 32.
Fueling
Vehicles produced as of January 1, 2012 need to be fueled with diesel that has low sulfur levels. Thus, to ensure emission reduction, the new engines should use diesel S50. Only vehicles without the application of the new standard may still use S1800 and S500 diesel.
Recommendations
The Arla 32 reservoir should always be full. If it is not, the vehicle loses performance and increases the emission of polluting gases. When fueling, always check what diesel is being used. The use on inappropriate containers such as buckets, pet packaging, or reused packaging can contaminate Arla 31, leading to power reduction and vehicle stop.
Proconve 7 as it is called in Brazil, or Euro V as it is known in Europe, is an Air Pollution Control Program by Automotive Vehicles that seeks to reduce the emission of pollutants and the environmental impact caused by automotive combustion gases.
As of January 1st, 2012, all the vehicles made in Brazil that run of diesel must meet this standard, placing Brazil among the group of nations that is committed to economic progress and the reduction of environmental impact.
Benefits of Proconve P7
Agrale based its values on respect for the environment and social responsibility, it also supports pro-environment initiatives such as this one, seeking to share the concept with society.
Sustainable technology
To exercise their role in the reduction of harmful gases, Agrale will equip their trucks, chassis and utility vehicles with the SCR – Selective Catalytic Reduction system.
The system operates using and injection of an urea based solution called Arla 32 in the exhaust tube. Following that, there is a chemical reaction in the catalyst that reduces the levels of Nitrogen Oxide (NO).
The new vehicles are equipped with an electronic diagnostic system OBD (Onboard Auto Diagnosis) that detects and alerts the driver regarding irregularities in gas emission. If the error is not corrected there will be an automatic reduction of the engine performance until the problem is solved.
