Transport with Ecological Responsibility

The smart answer for a larger number of demands.

Considering the increase in the price of fuel, the traffic of private vehicles becomes ever more expensive, especially in urban centers. At the same time, with the rapid growth of metropolitan areas throughout the world with millions of inhabitants, the need for mobility and the amount of traffic is always increasing.

As a result, urban buses take on a more important role in public transportation. In the context of this trend, there is the growing expectation for modern urban buses: they should the minimum possible cost, be silent and completely dependable during their daily itinerary, reduce their environmental impact as much as possible through low gas emissions, and offer the highest level of passenger comfort.

Siemens and Agrale are once again ahead of the curve in this extremely complex field, and present their new hybrid thrusters that use the ELFA® concept.

The ELFA systems use the hybrid in series concept, a superior idea with several significant advantages for urban buses: the hybrids in a series can be standardized.

With ELFA, the breaking energy can be stored and reused in the accelerations. The diesel engine only needs to be turned on with the bus at a high speed or when grater acceleration is needed. Depending on the system’s storage capacity, the bus may be operated only with electric energy, without any emission from gases or noise. A diesel engine can also be used regardless of the speed of the bus. This means that the engine can always work when its fuel consumption is most favorable.
